The Thwomp Kingdom (Need Levels Designers!!!)

PostPosted by The Thwomp King » Sun Jan 18, 2015 12:11 am

A couple years back I began an episode of SMBX that I never really came through with completing with school work and many other distractions and things preventing me from completing it. It's been a long while since I've even started up my SMBX program to work on the episode, and I didn't want my time to go to a waste. So I was wondering if anybody would be interested in completing the project I started. It would be nice to have it done eventually, and I know that it can't be completed with me. I'll post what I have done of the episode on here later.

A handful of levels have some poor design from me just starting and some of the graphics got funky, but I already have a world map complete with what I wanted to do and some random levels here and there that I added. I know it sounds lazy of me to throw my project on someone else's hands, but whoever that is (or if it's a few of you) thank you so much for the time putting into the project. I'd greatly appreciate it! May my project be in great hands.

Edit: I'm going to try to slowly work on my episode! I notice a lot of episodes have Teams of people and I would like to have one myself if there's anyway you'd like to help out with my episode.

I finished the 1st two worlds out of 10 normal worlds. There is also a warp world and bonus world I wanted to do as well. So I never really made much progress. XP

Hey, I was also taking on an old project for someone else... And it had ten worlds too! How about we combine both projects?

I guess it ultimately depends on what themes their worlds are. My episode is called, "The Thwomp Kingdom," and it mostly revolves around exploring a world with different colored thwomps and types and subspecies like Thwimps and Whomps and other unique types I wanted to create that are controlled by Bowser, since the Kingdom was originally separate before Bowser took over.

The ones I have go as follows:
World 1 - Plains (complete, but levels could use refining)
World 2 - Lava (complete, a couple levels could use refining mostly on graphical fronts)
World 3 - Desert (a couple levels in progress, but mostly incomplete)
World 4 - Ocean/Islands (haven't started)
World 5 - Sky (Have one level started)
World 6 - Swamp/Forest (Only ideas I have so far from Donkey King Country 2)
World 7 - One Huge Mountain (Hardly started with only ideas)
World 8 - Factory (I started some stuff, but it's definitely one I'm the most passionate about if I ever got to it)
World 9 - Ice (Hardly started and easily my biggest world since I love the ice theme as well)
World 10 - Darkness (Haven't thought of the final boss yet)
Hub World - A quick way to reach the other worlds, it's similar to the Invasion 2 hub where you go through doors and can find bonus stuff too.
Pipe World - Not necessary, but kinda like the world that can short cut to other worlds unlike the hub that needs the star to be reached in the world first.
Bonus World - Star Road Theme (Haven't thought too much on the what the levels are like besides what type they are.)

Again the world map for the game is practically complete besides maybe some refinement here and there. I have dozens of ideas for a majority of the levels, and maybe I'll put time into making some of them, but I'd be glad to give you my ideas if you need them. Any other level designers that might be able to help too?

Sorry for rambling there, but what's the other projects ideas like?

That seems pretty neat. The only issue is how would they combine as one episode? It doesn't seem like that'd mash up as well.

You guys could make something like "The thwomps kidnapped all Yoshis and you have to save them". I don't see any other way to be honest, both projects are way too different in terms of plot.

This also applies to sheets of paper, if you wrinkle them,
they won’t go back to it’s previous state no matter what you do.

My combo idea:
Graphics: All SMB3 style
Characters: Mario and Yoshi (Luigi)
World 1: Plains
World 2: Snowy Forest (the lava levels can be recolored white/blue and have "freezing cold water", or be in world 3)
World 3: Magma/Ash Desert
World 4: Water
World 5: Sky
World 6: Swamp
World 7: Mountain/Cave
World 8: Factory
World 9: Freezeflame Kingdom (ice and lava)
World 10: Bowser's Darkland
Bonus World: Maybe a YI styled world or 8-bit world?

Story: Bowser kidnapped the Yoshis. But they're in Thwomp Kingdom where a lot of Thwomps are. Some of Bowser's minions also have a thwomp theme for example:

The bosses will also usually be thwomp like bosses (for example Big Whomp Twins, Lakithwomp, Chasing Giant Thwomp, maybe Thwomp Bowser?)

I may be able to retheme the map if you like these ideas.

That's an interesting idea. The only other issue with that is I have mostly smw graphics used along with some smb3 in there with the two clashing on occasions too.
It's still a tough combo to pull off either way. Then again doing two separate projects would take forever as well. XP
